Koos Biesmeijer

Scientific Director at Naturalis Biodiversity Center and Professor of Natural Capital at Leiden University

Koos Biesmeijer is Scientific Director of Naturalis and Professor of Natural Capital at Leiden University. He is a leading ecologist with expertise in biodiversity, ecosystem services, and pollinators. His work focuses on connecting science with policy and society, with the aim of improving biodiversity in the Netherlands and beyond. He is also active as an advisor to governments and nature organizations such as Natuurmonumenten.

Jacqueline Kroon

Labor Policy Specialist at Glastuinbouw Nederland

Jacqueline Kroon is a labor policy specialist at Glastuinbouw Nederland. She focuses on topics such as the labor market, training, digitization, and the sustainable employability of (international) workers in the greenhouse horticulture sector. She plays an important role in promoting good employment practices and making work in the sector future-proof, including through initiatives related to training and development.

Siem Haffmans

Partner / Strategic Advisor at Partners for Innovation

Siem Haffmans is a partner and strategic advisor at Partners for Innovation. He supports companies in sustainable innovation projects, with a focus on circular economy, eco-design, and sustainable packaging. With over 25 years of experience, he combines knowledge of design, marketing, and recycling to realize profitable circular solutions. He is also the author of the book Products that Flow about circular revenue models.

Maartje Beem – Vullings

Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at Coöperatie Koninklijke FruitMasters in Geldermalsen

Maartje Beem – Vullings is Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at Coöperatie Koninklijke FruitMasters in Geldermalsen. She is committed to strengthening sustainability and food safety within the organization and the wider chain. With a focus on both technical systems and human connection, she works to create a culture in which quality, appreciation, and social responsibility go hand in hand. Her approach combines strategic insight with practical implementation, aimed at continuous improvement and impact.

Maarten Bánki

Manager sustainability at Royal FloraHolland

Maarten Bánki is Sustainability Manager at Royal FloraHolland. He provides strategic, tactical, and sometimes operational shape and direction to Royal FloraHolland's sustainability policy. This involves both improving sustainability and transparency within the company (buildings, installations, etc.) and throughout the production value chain, with a particular focus on growers who trade on the Royal FloraHolland platform. Important themes that are being worked on include climate mitigation, circularity, biodiversity & ecosystems, and working conditions. Maarten is closely involved in many sector initiatives, such as the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI).

Elise Wieringa

Sustainability Manager at Intratuin

Elise Wieringa works at Intratuin and is involved in sustainability initiatives in the retail and green sector. She previously worked at Royal Lemkes, where she gained extensive experience in the international floriculture chain. Her background combines knowledge of sustainable sourcing, chain collaboration, and consumer-oriented greenery. Elise is committed to making sustainability tangible for a wide audience and combines commercial clout with social impact.

Tijdlijn

  • August 31: All member growers of Royal FloraHolland can register their sustainable innovations until this date.
  • September 16: The jury will announce the five nominees.
  • September 16-22: A professional video will be made of all nominees, in which they will explain their innovation in more detail.
  • October 2: The nominees will personally present their innovation to the jury that afternoon. The jury will also have the opportunity to ask additional questions about the innovation.
  • October 10–24: During this period, all Royal FloraHolland members can vote for their favorite innovation. The public vote counts for 30% of the final decision.
  • November 4: The three winners will be announced during the Trade Fair in Aalsmeer.
