What is the Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award?
At Royal FloraHolland, we believe in a thriving future. A future in which growth does not come at the expense of people or the environment, but rather stems from sustainability and innovation. A future in which our members not only supply beautiful products, but also contribute to a healthy, green world. Based on this conviction, we have created the Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award.
The Sustainability Award is not just any award. It is the annual platform on which members of our cooperative are challenged and inspired to share their innovative, sustainable ideas and initiatives. The award recognizes, rewards, and encourages growers who contribute to a future-proof floriculture sector with vision and decisiveness.
With the Sustainability Award, we show how we take joint responsibility for our planet, our cooperative, and the quality of our business operations. Growing greener together, that's the idea. Whether it's smart water conservation, environmentally friendly packaging, fair working conditions, better business operations, or technological innovations. Every sustainable initiative counts.
How does it work?
- You can register your innovation until August 15.
- Subsequently, an independent expert jury will assess all submissions based on sustainability (ESG), impact, and feasibility. The five most promising innovations will be selected and will be allowed to personally present their idea to the jury. Professional videos will also be produced to give the innovation extra exposure.
- The public vote follows in October: all members of Royal FloraHolland can then vote for their favorite innovation and help determine the winner. The public vote accounts for 30% of the final assessment.
- During the festive awards ceremony at the annual Trade Fair Aalsmeer in November, we will put the nominees in the spotlight and announce the winners.
What can you win?
Advice for further developing the innovation
In addition to a prestigious physical trophy, the first-, second-, and third-place winners will receive a visit from the expert jury for personalized advice and practical marketing support to further develop their sustainable innovation:
Gold – How do you get the word out? A comprehensive plan to make your innovation visible and appealing.
Silver – Ready for growth? In-depth advice with the steps needed for online growth.
Bronze – Where do you stand now? An online visibility check of your innovation.
Visibility
The company and its innovation are promoted as ambassadors of sustainability both within and outside the sector. For example, the 2025 winner received a TV interview, significant attention at trade shows, and high visibility that led to many new customers.
Winners of the 2025 Sustainability Award
The winners of the Royal FloraHolland Sustainability Award will be announced during the Trade Fair in Aalsmeer. In 2025 J&P ten Have came in third place with ‘Sprayventive’. Second place went to Holla Roses with their circular flower cultivation, and first prize went to Hkw. Bruinen with their innovation ‘Little Spider’. Watch the 2025 award ceremony here.
