At Royal FloraHolland, sustainability is a core principle. We are dedicated to enhancing our cooperative’s sustainability and aim to lead the industry in this respect. We promote greater sustainability among our growers and throughout the floriculture chain. As consumers demand more transparency and legislation imposes stricter requirements, demonstrable sustainability is becoming increasingly essential.

We believe in a sustainable and future proof Royal FloraHolland as part of society. This impacts on our entire operation. We want to add value through our international B2B platform and a healthy cooperative. Through our services, we ensure that we also fulfill our customer promises in a sustainable manner: simplified dealmaking, customised logistics, and smart business.

We also aim to promote and facilitate sustainability throughout the chain. There are already many great examples that show that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand, such as LED lighting and geothermal and solar energy. Making the floriculture sector more sustainable is necessary to ensure the world remains liveable for future generations, and therefore growers are taking huge strides in terms of energy, labour, use of crop protection, packaging and water.

Our sustainable ambition is to ‘grow greener together’. We’ve outlined this ambition under three pillars:

Sustainability report

The sustainability report is a fixed part of our annual report. In it, we provide insight into our sustainability results and the progress we are making in this area. Royal FloraHolland takes its responsibility seriously in the area of sustainability, also known as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Royal FloraHolland embraces CSRD. We see it as a responsibility and an opportunity to become more sustainable more quickly and to increase our knowledge and insight with the help of relevant key figures.

Impact maker LG Flowers: from exciting experiments to sustainable innovations

The LG Flowers farm in South Holland has four greenhouses. All of them are filled with mini gerberas. One greenhouse is particularly special, as it is used for extensive experimentation, including pesticide-free cultivation.
