Auction update: First half of 2026 to focus on Auctioning via Floriday
July 9, 2026
Making the current auction system – Remote Buying – future-proof is a highly complex operation. We handle around 100,000 clock transactions every day, so a robust and reliable system is essential. That is why the first half of 2026 was also largely dominated by preparations for Auctioning via Floriday.
From this autumn, buyers will also be able to buy at the clock via the new RFH app on Floriday, and we will be saying goodbye to KOA.
Trade – what did we see at the clock?
In the first half of the year, there was once again a high volume of trade via the auction clock: over 2.7 billion flowers and plants. Total auction turnover amounted to over €1.1 billion. The proportion of KVV transactions increased by 0.5% to 27.7%, and the number of Daytrade transactions now stands at over 166,000. However, we did see a decline in the number of items in the first half of the year. This is partly due to geopolitical tensions, high fuel prices and weather conditions. System availability was good, with an auction uptime score of 99.64% for the first half of the year.
Growing shift towards Aalsmeer requires attention
For some time now, we have been observing a shift in supply towards Aalsmeer at the expense of Rijnsburg and Naaldwijk. As a result, available resources at those locations are being utilised less, whilst pressure on logistics and delivery in Aalsmeer is increasing. It is important that suppliers deliver to the hub where the buyer is based and that the buyer continues to buy locally. This is more sustainable and keeps our system affordable.
Auctioning via Floriday in 3 phases
Over the past few months, phase 1 of ‘Auctioning via Floriday’ focused on preparations within Floriday. All clock buyers need a Floriday account, which had to be linked to the KOA workspace.
Phase 2 began on 1 July. In this phase, we are working behind the scenes to migrate the technology behind KOA to Floriday. We are taking our time with this and scaling up auction by auction. In principle, buyers will not notice any difference, apart from having to log in twice – both to KOA and to Floriday. They still buy via KOA. Later this autumn, in phase 3, we will provide comprehensive training for all buyers on the new auction apps on Floriday, and they will also buy via Floriday.
Use RFH Pre-Auction for auction preparation
RFH Pre-Auction, the app on Floriday for filtering and marking clock supply listings, has been continuously expanded and optimised over the past six months. More and more buyers are happily switching to RFH Pre-Auction in preparation for auctioning via Floriday later this year. By then, all auction information will be centralised in one place: Floriday.
RFH Auction Profile Management
To give head buyers greater control over the buyers (and end customers) within their organisation, ‘buyer management’ was developed last year. A great deal of new functionality has been added to this tool over the past six months in preparation for Auctioning via Floriday. It is now also available as a new app within Floriday: RFH Auction Profile Management. As well as setting daily limits, buyer cards and (un)blocking buyers, all purchasing profiles (KOA workstations) can also be managed.
CC auction groups now also linked to KVV
At the start of this year, a new feature was introduced in Floriday and via the webshop links, meaning that entire CCs can now also be bought and sold in advance via KVV. As a grower is permitted to offer a maximum of 80 per cent of their supply via KVV, at least two CCs must always be supplied.
Outlook for the second half of the year
The second half of 2026 will also be largely dominated by Auctioning via Floriday. This autumn, we will launch phase 3 with a small-scale roll-out (pilot) to test whether we are fully ready for the large-scale roll-out of RFH Auction amongst all buyers. Naturally, we will also provide a comprehensive training programme.
The continued roll-out of order picking at Aalsmeer will have an impact on inspection rounds. We are already making adjustments to RFH Pre-Auction so that all labels (not just the master label) can be scanned more easily and an optimal walking route can be developed based on the markings made. Further information on this will follow later.
