From KOA to auctioning via Floriday: phase 1 in full swing
May 11, 2026
We have been auctioning flowers and plants for generations. To make the auction process future-proof, we are transitioning step by step from Remote Buying (KOA) to auctioning via Floriday. We are currently in phase 1, the preparation phase. In this phase, we are working together to ensure that everything is ready so that we can move smoothly on to phase 2, in which the technology behind KOA will be converted. Later this year, we will actually make the switch in phase 3, and from then on, purchasing will take place via Floriday. Thorough preparation now is crucial to ensure we can continue trading without risks in the future.
Renewal is necessary. The technical system behind the auctions is outdated, which means the risk of malfunctions and KOA downtime is increasing. As well as ensuring continuity, new technology also brings us new opportunities. For example, we can roll out new features more quickly, and you’ll have a clear overview of all your trading in one place. Watch the video ‘auctioning via Floriday’.
Phase 1 in full swing
In Phase 1, we are working with buyers to get the Floriday setup in order. All clock buyers must have a Floriday account, which must also be linked to their current KOA workspace. Main users will receive a message from Floriday with specific instructions. These instructions vary by customer type, so not everyone will receive the message at the same time. A further KOA release is also required. This is currently scheduled for the end of May. From then on, buyers will be asked to log in to Floriday as well. This will allow us to check that everything is working properly via new test clocks.
Outlook for phase 2
We are proceeding in several phases. In phase 2, scheduled to start in mid-June, we will convert the technology behind KOA, clock by clock. As a main user, please ensure that all KOA workstations in your organisation are linked (phase 1), otherwise buyers will no longer be able to purchase via the auction. We cannot start phase 2 until phase 1 has been completed. Naturally, ensuring that trading remains reliable is our top priority.
Buyers are testing the new auction clock
The development team building the new clock on Floriday (RFH Auction) is currently busy conducting various field tests on-site at clients’ premises. We are going through the key steps with various buyers at their own workstations: preparation, bidding on the clock via a live simulation, and the administrative processing. This allows us to see immediately whether the new clock design works well within our customers’ working methods and hardware. So far, they have been very enthusiastic. We will incorporate the areas for improvement before we begin the actual roll-out in phase 3, later this year. From that point onwards, buyers will no longer buy via KOA, but via the new layout and screens of RFH Auction in Floriday.
