We are redesigning our logistics, working uniformly at all hubs. Step by step, we will move from distribution to order picking and to delivery in time slots. We will take the next step on 18 January: for the first auction groups of clock 11 (green plants in particular) in Naaldwijk, we will start working with the order picking system and process and the new way of delivery from that date.

We will start small: with a number of auction groups of Plantclock 11 where green plants in particular are auctioned. This is completely in line with the approach of first experience, learn and optimise. We first test on a small scale whether everything really works as it should. After all, order picking of plants is very different from picking flowers, with different functions and settings of the IT system. The auction groups involved have been informed. In February, we will decide whether the rest of the auction groups will also switch from clock 11 for the peak.

The fact that we will be order picking means that supply and delivery will also change. That has an impact on growers and buyers. The delivery dynamics will change, for instance, and we will start delivering in time slots. This offers opportunities for more diversification and customisation in delivery, with the right adaptation of buyers' logistics processes. We like to think along with you about this. It also creates opportunities for growers, from which they can benefit.
New opportunities for growers
The auction order no longer depends on the logistics set-up. And so we can determine the auction position per administration number by means of random grower lots, which is fair. This also gives growers more opportunities to determine the auction order of products themselves, for example in order of the CDV price (possible from January). Another advantage is that growers can place several auction groups on one trolley when supplying, conveniently and efficiently. This is particularly interesting if the whole of Naaldwijk plants is switched to order picking.
Time-slot delivery: more predictable and reliable
We pick the orders and start delivering in time slots. With Select Delivery, we can deliver outside or faster than the regular process. For example, you can have clock presale purchases delivered earlier (before 08.00) than the remainder of the lot still being auctioned. With Select Delivery, you can also receive clock purchases later (10.00-13.00), and we are working hard to make Priority Delivery (urgent purchase) also available in Naaldwijk in early 2024. No Select Delivery time slot preference? Then buyers can still decide what time within the regular process they want to receive the last trade by no later than 11:00 or 12:00. Each buyer determines its own end times, per hub, per day and even per copper plate. As a result, we are gradually saying goodbye to the one-size-fits-all forecast end time.
Moving on from the peak
The fact that we are now starting order picking of plants in Naaldwijk is really another milestone. In February, we will know whether we will pick orders for the whole of clock 11 before the peak instead of distributing them. Is that the case? Then, after evaluating central auctioning Rose, we will also start with a first central plant clock. A wish of many growers. After the peak, we expect to start picking orders for the rest of the auction groups of plants Naaldwijk as well. Then Naaldwijk will be 100% over to order picking, and we will also start small with plants in Aalsmeer. So we are getting closer and closer to one standard logistics method and system at all hubs.
