Fc555
Making logistics more sustainable is a priority at Royal FloraHolland. For example, reducing the amount of packaging waste. Therefore we are developing new standardised solutions in close cooperation with growers, buyers, suppliers, packaging experts and other chain partners. We will soon introduce one of our latest innovations: the Fc555 flower bucket. With this multi-use bucket, the gerbera product committee alone will save around 250,000 kilos of cardboard a year.
From prototype to reality
The Fc555 was created in collaboration with the gerbera product committee, among others. It all started with a saw and the buckets Fc588 and Fc566. In this video, Ed of Holstein Flowers tells us how the idea of the new multi-use packaging was born, about its realisation together with Royal FloraHolland and how important sustainability is for the future of the floriculture chain. Especially now that the European PPWR legislation is in force.
All about the Fc555
What is the Fc555 flower bucket?
What is the Fc555 flower bucket?
The Fc555 is our latest innovation in transport packaging. The bucket has the base size of the small bucket Fc566 and the height of the large buckets Fc577/Fc588.
What are the biggest improvements in sustainability?
What are the biggest improvements in sustainability?
The absence of cardboard collars saves on cardboard use. Furthermore, there are fewer support shelvings to be washed and water consumption decreases due to the smaller bucket capacity. CO2 emissions are reduced because there are fewer transport movements.
Why was this flower bucket developed?
Why was this flower bucket developed?
The primary reason is a request from a large group of gerbera growers who are working together to optimise and make more sustainable use of packaging and to further optimise their logistics processes for the future. After widespread exploration among growers and buyers, the Fc555 was found to provide optimisation in other product committees as well.
How much is the deposit you pay for the new bucket?

When using the Fc555, you pay less deposit; you only have to pay deposit for the bucket instead of the bucket and the support shelving.
Why is this bucket a valuable addition to RFH's packaging assortment?
Why is this bucket a valuable addition to RFH's packaging assortment?
Among other things, the Fc555 ensures more sustainable packaging use, lower supply chain costs, and a more efficient supply chain. In addition, the Fc555 responds to the increasing need for smaller sales units.
From when will the Fc555 be available?

As things stand, the gerbera product committee could be the first to start using this new bucket in spring 2026.
What are the biggest advantages of the Fc555 for growers?
What are the biggest advantages of the Fc555 for growers?
Fewer support shelvings and collars are needed. In the nursery, this also means less labour. In addition, less space is needed as growers do not need to stock up on support shelvings and collars. And with the Fc555 comes the opportunity for further optimisation and automation of internal processes at nurseries.
What flowers is the Fc555 suitable for?
What flowers is the Fc555 suitable for?
In particular, the Fc555 is an alternative for cut flowers with a length of 50 to 65 cm that growers now supply in Fc566 with support shelving (Fc596) or with collars. The Fc555 is designed to fit the existing Fc596 support shelving here as well. This is an additional packaging combination that can be a good solution, especially for flowers that are 70 cm or longer.
How do buyers benefit from using the Fc555?
How do buyers benefit from using the Fc555?
Using the Fc555 leads to increased efficiency in the box. The reduction in collars results in less (return) handling. In addition, the amount of waste decreases in the box.
