Tim van den Ende loves roses. Or more specifically, one type of rose. Red Naomi is the flower of choice for the co-owner of Van den Ende Roses in Monster. ‘Its beauty and fragrance are unrivalled.’

"The deep, intense, velvety red colour, the large number of petals and its wonderful fragrance – for me, there is no flower more beautiful than Red Naomi. We have been growing Red Naomi for about thirteen years now and chose it mainly because of its beauty and wonderful fragrance. The flower also opens beautifully. It is a beautiful large flower with a long vase life. It is also easy to work with because it is so strong. Really, no other red rose can compare to Red Naomi."

Valentine's Day rush

"Roses are, of course, inextricably linked to Valentine's Day. And red roses in particular, because red is and always will be the colour of love. That's why this is an extremely busy period for us, even though International Women's Day is becoming increasingly important. Roses are also given as gifts in many countries around Mother's Day. Our roses are sold throughout Europe to customers who demand exclusivity and consistent quality."

The magic of roses

"Roses still have something magical about them for people. When someone receives a bunch of roses, they say: “I received a bunch of roses.” With other flowers, someone is more likely to say, “I received a bunch of flowers.” That says it all, really. We regularly hear from florists what buyers think of Red Naomi. The common thread is that it adds beautiful colour and fragrance to the home and that it lasts a long time."

Sustainably grown

"What also makes our Red Naomi special is that it is grown in a very sustainable way. We have an ultra-modern greenhouse, which we heat with geothermal energy. We also use CO₂ from Rotterdam's industry (OCAP); this is a residual product that is given a second life with us as food for the plants. Over the past three years, we have halved our CO₂ emissions and thus significantly reduced our ecological footprint. When you buy a rose from us, you are buying a fair product grown on Dutch soil. A product that has been grown with a great deal of love. And one that will hopefully bring a lot of love to the people who buy or receive it."
