Floriculture in action for people with cancer: join the Roparun charity auction on Monday 18 May
April 14, 2026
This year, Royal FloraHolland is once again taking part in the Roparun – for the 28th time already. With our Roparun Team, colleagues are committed to raising as much money as possible for people with cancer and their loved ones. We do this on behalf of the entire floriculture sector. An important part of this effort is the charity auction on 18 May, for which we invite growers and buyers to join us and create even more impact together.
What is the Roparun?
The Roparun is a unique relay run of 530 kilometres from Paris to Rotterdam, taking place during the Whitsun weekend from 23 to 25 May. Each year, around 250 teams and 8,000 participants take part. The goal is to raise as much money as possible to make life more liveable for people with cancer. The finish on Whit Monday at the Coolsingel in Rotterdam is an impressive moment every year, full of emotion and connection.
Royal FloraHolland: together on behalf of the sector
Royal FloraHolland has been participating in the Roparun with its own team of colleagues for 28 years. We do this on behalf of the floriculture sector. Together with growers, buyers, suppliers and colleagues, we show the sector’s social commitment.
Charity auction on 18 May: more impact together
To raise as much money as possible for the Roparun, we organise various activities. One of these is the Roparun Charity Auction on Monday 18 May. During this auction, flower and plant products made available by growers will be auctioned.
All proceeds go directly to the Roparun Foundation. Royal FloraHolland covers the lot levy, and if you donate a full trolley, we will also cover the trolley levy.
Call to growers: donate a product
We warmly invite growers to make products available for the charity auction. Every contribution helps to increase the total proceeds and therefore provides more support for palliative care.
Call to buyers: place an extra bid
Buyers also play an important role. By placing extra bids during the charity auction, you directly help to increase the proceeds. Every extra euro goes entirely to the charitable cause.
Where does the money go?
Roparun proceeds support projects that improve the lives of people with cancer and their loved ones. For example, until 2035, the Roparun Foundation is funding the replacement of wish ambulances and stretchers, a commitment of €7 million. This enables Vereniging WensAmbulance Nederland and Stichting Ambulance Wens to continue fulfilling the final wishes of terminally ill patients free of charge.
In addition, on 24 April, in the presence of the Royal FloraHolland Roparun Team, the Roparun Foundation (dutch) will present a cheque of €64,000 to Hospice Beukenrode (with two locations in the Westland region) for the furnishing of renovated rooms.
