Spectacular Celebration of 25 Years of Trade Fair Aalsmeer

November 4, 2025

25e editie TFA feestmoment

The 25th edition of Trade Fair Aalsmeer was celebrated this afternoon with a festive moment at the Royal FloraHolland stand. The celebration began with an impressive performance: singer Alma, dressed in a floral costume, sang the song ‘Flowers’ while being lifted seven meters into the air. Her performance drew a large crowd and marked the official start of the program.

Afterwards, CEO David van Mechelen took the floor. He briefly reflected on the history of the fair, which began in 2000 as the Aalsmeer Market and has since grown into the international floriculture event of Royal FloraHolland. With more than 600 exhibitors and over 20,000 visitors from more than 20 countries, the fair is a yearly highlight for the sector. The exhibition space has also grown significantly—from 8,000 m² in 2000 to 29,000 m² in 2025! “Over the years, the Trade Fair has become a leading event of Royal FloraHolland, where the international floriculture sector gathers annually for inspiration, innovations in various fields, and connection. For our members, it’s an important moment in the year to showcase their assortment to a broad and international audience, trade media, and other stakeholders. This is my eighth time at the fair, and every year I’m surprised again—it always looks even better than the year before.”

Festive Gift
Deputy Mayor Sven Spaargaren then expressed his appreciation for Royal FloraHolland as a unifying force in the international floriculture industry. As a token of thanks, he presented a festive gift to David van Mechelen: a tall porcelain flower vase filled with flowers, intended for the reception area of the Flôradome headquarters in Aalsmeer, for all visitors and employees of Royal FloraHolland.

The moment concluded with a joint toast, during which David van Mechelen and Sven Spaargaren poured the last bottles of champagne over the champagne tower. Hostesses served the glasses to the guests, who then toasted to this special milestone and to successful days at the fair.
