FloriCompact is now available for small-scale growers
November 3, 2025
Small-scale growers (total floriculture turnover up to €250,000) can make use of a modified certification scheme. Reduced administrative burden while meeting FSI requirements. From 3 November 2025, growers can use FloriCompact – a scheme developed by Agraya GmbH (parent organisation of GLOBALG.A.P.).
FSI, Jeroen Oudheusden: "I am happy that growers can now choose FloriCompact in addition to the already launched MPS-Compact scheme. This allows growers to choose the product and organisation that best suits their business operations."
Key steps for growers who wish to use this scheme:
- Application to FSI: submit an application to FSI. The FSI will check whether you are eligible for the small-scale grower scheme at FSI Compact.
 - Registration: if you receive a positive response, you can register with the relevant certifying body or recognised registration tool. MPS-Compact or FloriCompact.
 - Certification: if you obtain your certificate through one of these schemes, you meet the requirements of FSI.

Why is certification important?
- The need for sustainability: further progress in the sustainability of floriculture is needed to ensure a habitable world for future generations. Growers are making significant strides in areas such as energy, water, crop protection, packaging and labour use.
 - Transparency: edging towards 100% certification according to FSI requirements is an important step towards greater transparency in the sustainable cultivation of flowers and plants. We stand strong together as a cooperative, including in the area of sustainability.
 - Image: essential for substantiating and maintaining the licence to produce: transparency contributes to a positive image of the floriculture sector, nationally and internationally, both now and in the future . Certification data is necessary to make the steps taken by growers transparent and understandable for the public and the media. Separating fact from fiction can only be done with substantiation.
 - Buyers and traders are making stricter demands, including more stringent sustainability delivery conditions, for flowers and plants. This includes large retailers such as supermarkets, chains of garden centres, florists and DIY stores.
 - Increasing political and social pressure: society, consumers and politicians demand more transparency. In the Netherlands, for instance, there are now many municipalities that no longer offer bouquet flowers for environmental reasons.
