Peak in terms of figures: May
June 4, 2025

After the real peak month of April, we processed even more flowers and plants in our logistics in the month of May. Despite the high numbers, delivery reliability was high and there were virtually no clock failures.
Compared to last year, Ascension Day fell weeks later. Pentecost also fell slightly later in 2025, in June. Comparisons with previous periods may therefore give a somewhat distorted picture. Nevertheless, we give you an insight into the latest numbers compared to last year and April.
Higher than in April, lower than in 2024
The number of products traded via clock sales was over 501 million, which is 7 million units more than in April, but 1.5% lower than last year. Clock sales were almost €218 million in May. This was €25 million higher than in April. Compared to last year's May, clock sales decreased 11.2%, despite the same number of auction days (21).
On 5 May, the Monday before Dutch Mother's Day, a record number of flower transactions were processed in Aalsmeer: 93,317 - never before have these numbers been so high. The number of clock presale (KVV) transactions at Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg combined was also very high on the same day: 69,000. This is 7,000 more than a year ago.
Pricing was under some pressure, but in line with the same period two years ago. At €0.43, the median price was slightly higher than in April (€0.39), but 9.8% lower than in May 2024. The fact that Mother's Day fell in a different month in some countries last year may have had an effect on pricing in certain product groups.
The following went well:
- Lots of help from office staff with 143 peak emergency services
- High delivery reliability; 99.8% clock transactions without complaint
- Good availability of trolleys and CC containers
- Auction end times were achieved as there were virtually no clock failures/stoppages.
- Many customers are now well-accustomed to multi-transaction auctioning (MTV)
The following could be better:
- Temporary issue stop for two types of plant packaging
- Prediction of work supply (especially on Mondays 5 and 19 May) proved difficult

Expectations for June
We expect one more real peak day, on Tuesday 10 June, the day after Pentecost. On this day, we have already declared an early auction day because of the expected workload. After that, we also face a challenge in the week around the NATO summit on 24-25 June, which we have prepared as best we can. Thus, an extra early auction day has also been declared for Wednesday 25 June. For more information on this, please see the NATO Summit page on our website.
