Note: consequences of the NATO summit for accessibility of Royal FloraHolland hubs

May 21, 2025

WCM RFH DJI 0647
On Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 June, the NATO summit will take place in The Hague. This will cause major traffic disruption in the Randstad from Sunday 22 June 16:00 to Friday 27 June 05:00. Will you be travelling to and from Royal FloraHolland's hubs during this period? If so, you will be affected by road closures, delays and alternative routes. Particularly around the Rijnsburg hub.

Accessibility to and from the Rijnsburg hub

Accessibility to the Rijnsburg hub will be most affected this week. Particularly on Wednesday 25 June, when the A44, N434 and N44 will be closed in both directions from late morning (until probably 5 a.m. on Thursday). The route from Rijnsburg to Naaldwijk will also be considerably longer due to a diversion.

Accessibility Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk

Accessibility to the Aalsmeer hub will be mainly limited by lane closures on the A4 and closure of the A5. The Naaldwijk hub is accessible but may be affected by delays on the A4 motorway.

Always check the latest travel information in advance at vanAnaarBeter.nl

A number of roads will be partially or fully closed, including the A4, A5, A44 and N44 towards The Hague. As the temporary closures are subject to change, we recommend checking www.vananaarbeter.nl for the latest travel information or the NAVO summit website.

Additional services and measures by Royal FloraHolland

The closures will cause additional traffic and delays. This is an industry-wide challenge. Royal FloraHolland cannot eliminate these problems, but has discussed potential measures with growers, buyers and collective transporters to minimise the inconvenience as much as possible. All hubs will remain open as usual every day. Our goal is to keep daily operations running as normally as possible.

To this end, the following measures will be in effect from 22 June to 27 June:

  • Extra early morning delivery on Wednesday 25 June will start at 5 a.m., so that we can deliver earlier due to road closures from Wednesday afternoon onwards.
  • Extension of delivery times so that product supply can reach hubs on time:
    • Wednesday morning deliveries possible at all locations (including Rijnsburg)
    • Sunday to Thursday night until 4:30 a.m. (instead of 4:00 a.m.), with the exception of Wednesday morning, when delivery is possible until 3:30 a.m. instead of 3:00 a.m. due to the extra Early Auction Day.
  • Buffer capacity at hubs so that your product can be buffered in cold storage in case of delays in your process.
  • Maximum focus on fast delivery logistics RFH so that you have sufficient time to carry out your own logistics process.
  • Extra Early Auction Day on Wednesday 25 June starting at 5am, so we can deliver earlier due to road closures from Wednesday afternoon.
  • Customer Contact Centre enquiry desk, if you have specific questions, for example about logistics, you can discuss the options with Royal FloraHolland specialists.

This is the set of measures we're putting in place to help growers, buyers, and collective transporters. These measures may be extended or restricted based on future developments.
