From 1 July 2024 rate for growers per 'not supplied clock batch'

The reliability of our Royal FloraHolland platform is crucial. For you as a grower because it means you get the best price for your flowers or plants. And for buyers so they get what they expect to get. Do you ever enter supply via a clock delivery form (also known as clock-EAB), which you later do not supply at our logistics hubs after all? For example, because you sold it directly? Or maybe you didn't even realise it. Each day, we have to remove an average of 40 batches from the supply just before the auction. In peak periods, this rises to as many as 120 batches per day. This discontinued supply means confusion and disappointment for buyers and unnecessary extra work.

Negative impact on procurement process

Sometimes buyers have already marked a discontinued batch to buy, or even already bought it through Auction Presales. They expect to buy batches that ultimately turn out to be unavailable on our hubs and auction clock. This negatively impacts their purchasing process and puts pressure on the reliability of our marketplace.

1 July 2024 rate per 'not supplied clock batch'

Our employees have to manually remove the discontinued supply every day. Which brings extra work and unnecessary costs, which are now paid collectively by growers. From 1 July 2024, we will therefore introduce a rate of €19 per not supplied clock batch' for clock-EAB lots that have been given 'discontinued' status after supply checks. We will charge this rate directly to the committed grower.

Together, we ensure a reliable platform

We see exactly which growers have had discontinued supply in the past year. We inform these growers personally. Since the beginning of April until 1 July, the auctioneer or account manager also calls everyone who then has discontinued supply to ensure that this new rate does not apply later. For example, auctioneer John van der Hulst also informed a supplier when he saw that a large part of the registered batches were not supplied. It turned out that the supplier was making clock-EAB’s based on forecasts and was not aware of the consequences. They subsequently adapted the internal supply process and introduced an additional quality check before shipping to Royal FloraHolland. A clock-EAB delivery form is now only sent in when batches are ready for transport.

Remove or correct clock-EAB delivery forms

If you decide at the last minute not to supply a clock-EAB batch after all, for example because you sold it via direct trade, it is important to remove this clock-EAB. Ensure correct supply information before the start of Auction Presales and/or the auction. This is how we collaborate to create a reliable floriculture marketplace.
