Red crosses gone; ensuring a good supply photo
November 23, 2022

The correct product information and realistic photos are crucial to a well-functioning marketplace. They improve buyers’ purchasing experience at auction and thus ensure optimal pricing for growers. This is important in a world that is continuing to digitise and internationalise. Next month, we will take another step in this regard.
Royal FloraHolland’s quality department has a key focus on improving the reliability of supply information. A good product photo is essential for this. From 1 December, employees from the control and guidance team will be able to modify non-representative product photos. These only concern supplied photos that do not reflect the actual status of the lot on offer.

Inspection code 998
In the current situation, we check the supplied product photo with the delivered lot for its representativeness. If this is not the case, Royal FloraHolland will remove the product photo and provide an inspection code. This code causes a red cross to be shown on the clock front instead of the product picture. The result: clock disruptions, lack of clarity for the buyer and, ultimately, poorer pricing.
Modification involves taking a new photo using the RFH Photo App and attaching it to the lot. The lot is given the inspection code 998. The following text will be visible on the clock front: ‘Photo supplied by Royal FloraHolland’. There will then be no more red crosses on the clock front and buyers will see a representative photo instead. Working together, this improves the reliability of supply information.
