Liveable planet
Becoming more sustainable together means we, as a floriculture sector, must help shape the energy transition. We are determined to bring our activities and needs to within the limits of a liveable world.
Crop protection
Growers worldwide want to supply high-quality flowers and plants. Free from disease or pests with no damage and a long vase life. They use an Integrated Pest Management plan (IPM) in order to protect their products. Chemicals are a last resort and are only used where there are no alternatives. Here, the use of (chemical) crop protection both inside the European Union and (a part of) Africa is clarified.

Circularity
Royal FloraHolland strives for the circular use of raw materials, minimising waste and maximising the reuse of materials in line with the ‘waste hierarchy’. We also facilitate the use of standardised transport packaging, which contributes to an efficient supply chain with a lower environmental impact. We also work with supply chain partners on sustainable industry standards for product packaging. This provides growers and buyers with tools to make packaging more sustainable. We are also collaborating with the VGB to represent the interests of growers and buyers regarding the PPWR. We believe in the power of collaboration to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
Biodiversity
We endorse and uphold this in line with the United Nations Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the 2030 EU Biodiversity Strategy. We ourselves take initiatives to design the green spaces and flowering borders on and around our hubs to be as biodiverse as possible, promote liveable, green cities and green communities, and participate in initiatives such as Deltaplan Biodiversity Restoration.
