After the Supervisory Board and Council of Members gave their approval to the intended investment for the further development of Aalsmeer East, all the necessary decisions were taken. The project is now entering the phase of working out a final design.
"With the expansion of Aalsmeer-Oost, Royal FloraHolland aims to further strengthen the floriculture cluster, the physical market place and the cooperative. In this way, we are responding to the growth needs of our customers," says Coen Meijeraan, manager of Real Estate and Facility Management at Royal FloraHolland.
20% growth in space
The development at Aalsmeer-Oost includes a total of 135,000m² extra floor space. This means a 20% increase in space for growers and buyers in Aalsmeer. The high-quality business premises offer a good working environment for users and will be built using sustainable building materials. There will be 1,250 car parking spaces and 170 docks and 60 truck parking spaces. The sustainable building, connected to the product street, is future-proof with a free height of 12 metres and a floor load of 5,000 kg per m².
The Aalsmeer-Oost development area is a high-profile location along the N201 at the entrance to Aalsmeer, offering floriculture businesses the opportunity to grow further and strengthen their own identity. The construction of the Floral Garden Street and the Uninterrupted Logistics Link will provide a fast connection to the A4, A9 and Schiphol Airport.
Now that all the necessary decisions have been taken, the plan can be developed further. At the beginning of next year, the sketch design will be developed into a definitive design and the municipal planning permit procedure will be completed. More information for potentially interested parties will follow in the first half of 2022.
In the meantime, the first pile of Marginpar's new premises and the first part of the product street have been driven into the ground. A start has also been made on the construction of the Ornamental Plant Cultivation Street and the Uninterrupted Logistics Link.
