We would like to introduce the candidates to you below.

Dick Kooij

Company name: Gerbera United
Product group: Barberton Daisy
Region: Eastland, Netherlands

Who are you?
I am Dick Kooij, co-director at Gerbera United. Together with my partners W.P. v.d. Berg and Gijsbert Verboom, we grow a total of 130 different varieties of barberton daisies on 10.5 hectares at three locations. I am someone who likes to express my opinion and has lots of ideas.

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
I want to contribute because we all have to work together to keep the cooperative strong and make it even stronger. I also want to hear what is going on among the members and express this in the Members' Council.

How can you strengthen the members' council?
I dare to express my opinion, have broad general knowledge, and am a good representative of the flower growing industry.

Inder Nain

Company Name: Xflora Group
Category: Roses
Region: Kenya

Who are you?
I am a grower based in Kenya

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
Royal FloraHolland has a very important and significant contribution in the floriculture sector. It becomes even more important looking at the turbulent future. I want to be involved in the important strategic decisions that will have an impact on our trade in the near future and ahead.

How can you strengthen the Members' Council?
I hope to be able to bring my experience in strategic thinking/planning to the council.

André Satter

Company name: Satter Orchids
Product group: moth orchid
Region: Bommelerwaard, Netherlands

Who are you?
My name is André Satter, I am married and have two children. I have a background in Phalaenopsis cultivation and enjoy working on projects that combine innovation and quality. I am practical, like to take responsibility, and work in a goal-oriented manner to achieve sustainable results.

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
I strongly believe in cooperation. That is why I want to contribute to a cooperative that is closer to the retail sector and has a better understanding of what is going on there. By strengthening the connection between production and sales, we can jointly create more value for both members and customers.

How can you strengthen the Members' Council?
I can strengthen the Members' Council with my practical experience, knowledge of the retail market, and my results-oriented way of thinking. I am used to translating decisions into concrete actions.

Bianca van Eijk

Company name: Eijco Flowers BV
Product group: African lily
Region: Oostland, Netherlands and Portugal

Who are you?
Together with my brother Danny, I own our farm in Nootdorp in the Netherlands, where we grow cut flowers of African lily in a 2-hectare greenhouse, mainly focused on the higher segment. In addition, together with my father Cor, I am co-owner of our farm in Quelfes, Portugal, where we grow various more exclusive cut flowers such as calla lily, Kniphofia, and African lily on 6 hectares, divided between outdoor cultivation and tunnel greenhouses. Partly focused on the higher segment and retail. In addition to our production companies, we also have our own breeding department, where we work on innovations within our production varieties. I am also married to Chiel Hazeu, owner of Hazeu Orchids in Delfgauw. They grow potted orchids (Phalenopsis).

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
As a grower of a niche cut flower product, I think it is important that I can contribute ideas about the design of the marketplace of the future. One that is also widely accessible and affordable.

How can you strengthen the members' council?
Thanks to my entrepreneurial spirit and experience, I have a broad view of the diversity within the cooperative. This allows me to contribute to decisions about the cooperative with an open mind.

Joost van Adrichem

Company name: Phalaenova BV
Product group: Moth Orchid
Region: Westland

Who are you?
Joost van Adrichem, 61 years old, owner of Phalaenova BV, together with Stanislav and Addie. We grow 2,000,000 pot orchids (moth orchids) annually in Brielle. The plants are usually sold directly (90%) or via the clock (10%). We focus on wholesale with a distinctive range. From the very beginning, I have been a strong supporter of Floriday, the core of our sales cooperative. In the past, I was chairman of FPC Potorchidee for 12 years. Before we became active in floriculture in 2007, I grew peppers and was a member of, first, The Greenery and later, Veiling ZON. So I have also been a member of another sales organization. Father of four children with my wife Jolanda, who also works at our farm.

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
Royal FloraHolland is a very important part of the floriculture sector in the Netherlands. Here, the entire European floriculture trade can purchase a complete range of products and transport them throughout Europe. To remain that center, RFH must move with the times. It is important that we remain the largest marketplace for floriculture products, because there is little or no room for small marketplaces.

How can you strengthen the Members' Council?
It is important that potted orchids are also represented in the Members' Council. I have some experience in vegetable cultivation and sales organizations. In addition, I have been involved with the FPC Potorchidee for 12 years.

Danny van Uffelen

Company name: Zentoo & Fleur Market
Product group: Cut chrysanthemums
Region: Westland, Netherlands

Who are you?
My name is Danny van Uffelen, I am 35 years old. I am married to Mathilda and have two sons (aged 2.5 years and 6 months). I was born, raised, and still live in Naaldwijk. I grew up as the son of a chrysanthemum grower, one of the founders of Zentoo. During my studies in Business Administration and Marketing Management at Erasmus University, I further developed my interests in strategy and commerce and started working at Zentoo after graduating. I have now been working for Zentoo for 11 years. I started here in marketing and sales. From there, I have been able to help build the Zentoo cooperative over the years, and I continue to do so today in the role of product manager & digitization. In this role, I am heavily involved in project management and am part of the Zentoo management team.

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
The Royal FloraHolland cooperative is a unique collaboration that has proven itself throughout history by continuously changing with the times. I strongly believe that you can achieve more together than alone. A good platform is essential for the future of our wonderful sector. By standing as a candidate for the Members' Council, I hope to be able to contribute to this.

How can you strengthen the Members' Council?
With my commercial and strategic insights and the network I have built up over the past 11 years, I expect to be able to contribute to how the RFH cooperative will need to adapt in the coming years in order to remain the leading floriculture platform in the future. In addition, I have been involved in various RFH projects and their integration in recent years. One of the largest of these is multichannel logistics in Aalsmeer. This is also where the foundation for Daytrade is being laid. I am also a member of the Floriday flower leadership group.

Sjaak van der Ploeg

Company name: Maatschap van der Ploeg van den Kerkhof
Product group: lady's mantle and sea lavender
Region: Bollenstreek, Netherlands

Who are you?
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sjaak van der Ploeg, I am 58 years old and I live with my wife Jacqueline on Middenweg in Lisse. We are the proud parents of two adult daughters. For many years, I have been running our flower nursery with great pleasure and dedication. I have been a member of Royal FloraHolland since 1988, where I enthusiastically participate in the thriving world of the floriculture sector. I grow Alchemilla and sea lavender and am at the clock from the end of April to mid-October.

Why do you want to make an active contribution to our cooperative?
I have been a member of our cooperative for 37 years and see the auction as an extension of my business. In a cooperative with more than 3,000 members and great diversity, it is important that the members' council has a balanced composition. A members' council that represents the interests of all member groups is where I see a role for myself.

How can you strengthen the Members' Council?
For years, I have faithfully attended the member sessions and tried to provide input with a positive critical eye. I was a member of the Members' Council of Rabobank Bollenstreek for eight years. I can use the experience I gained there, among other things, to be of value to the RFH Members' Council in the coming years. The world around us is changing rapidly, and the floriculture sector will have to move with it. I look forward to contributing to this with my knowledge and experience.
