IPM Essen 2024: a valuable trade fair week with a lot of international interest

From January 23 to 26, IPM Essen took place, the trade fair for plants, technology and floriculture. During these days, more than 1,400 exhibitors presented their products and innovations to the 36,000 visitors from 43 countries.
Royal FloraHolland was also well represented, this year with a new concept. In the heart of a special pavilion, Royal FloraHolland, surrounded by Dutch and international growers, was a nice reflection of what our sector and the marketplace have to offer.
Participating growers
The participating growers were: Fusioncolors, Native Blooms Handelskwekerij van der Velden, Satter Roses, Edelcactus, Edens Plants, Chrywijk and Lion-Star, Kiepflower, Hedera Plant, Winco Holland, 365 dagen bloemen, Nieuwkoop Europe, PT Creations, LG Flowers, Plant World, The Orchid Growers, Vreugdenhil Bulbs & Plants, HouwenPlant, HiBreeding JS Creations, Fabulous Freesia and XL Bloom/Flamingo Plant. In short: a great presentation!
The stand focused on the strategy of the Royal FloraHolland platform: a double-sided platform consisting of a digital and a logistics platform, which are closely linked. How do we bring growers and buyers together and realize optimal pricing at the lowest possible cost? We demonstrated this through videos for the Together with You campaign, as well as the video Our story in 1 minute.
Novelties
The stand also featured 27 novelties and the winners of the Glazen Tulp Award in five categories: Cut Flowers, Green Houseplants, Flowering Houseplants, Garden Plants and Concepts. The winner of the Greenovation Award was shown through a video. The international trade audience showed a special interest, showing that this presentation is definitely a valuable addition.
Floriday
Floriday also had its own place in the whole. Here the message was: Grow your business. Simplify your process, with special focus on the topic Buy via Floriday (buyers), Sell via Floriday (growers). A demo was given on the main features in Floriday. We also explained to new users, both growers and buyers. There were interesting and fruitful conversations again!
International Grower of the Year
On the first evening of the fair, the presentation of the International Grower of the Year (IGOTY) took place. The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) presents this award annually to encourage international growers in their good entrepreneurship. The IGOTY consists of four categories. Member-supplier Sjaak van Schie BV won in the Young Plants category and at Cut Flowers and Bulbs, supplier Beyond Chrysanthemum walked away with the win.
And if that was not enough, Amigo Plant won the Plant Novelty of IPM 2024 with their Aloe Medivera® in the category Green Houseplants. Congratulations to all!
