Product committees
Royal FloraHolland is a cooperative of, for and by members. Our growers supply many different types of flowers and plants. There are therefore 27 Royal FloraHolland Product Committees (FPCs) for product-specific matters.
Each member can turn to one of these FPCs. Through the FPC, members share knowledge about their product with each other. Based on that knowledge, they contribute ideas about product-related matters within the cooperative and provide advice to employees. When advice is given, the principle of “apply or explain” applies. The FPC is the exclusive place for product-related matters.
An FPC consists of five to nine growers, a manager from the company (sponsor), a product manager and a support staff member from RFH. The chairmanship is held by one of the members (grower). An FPC meets about three to four times a year to discuss issues and challenges for the product group.
Tasks and responsibilities of the FPC
The FPC advises, serves as a sounding board and sends out signals. The FPC is also involved in the implementation of decisions and day-to-day business within the company with regard to the product group.
Seeking advice from and communicating with its constituents is an important task for the FPC. The FPC does this, for example, by means of a survey, a product meeting (such as Product Day), a theme meeting and/or a WhatsApp group. A product newsletter is published regularly.
FPC agreements and rules
Governance means: the way of managing. For a cooperative, some rules are laid down in law. Another part is determined by the cooperative itself. We agree on this together in the articles of association and regulations. Would you like to know what we agreed on about the FPCs?
