Three new Members’ Council candidates selected18 November 2019
In order to ensure a new inflow into Royal FloraHolland’s Members' Council in 2020, the Nomination Committee nominated Gerrit-Jan Vermöhlen, Marco Keysers and Steef Meeuwisse for appointment as Members' Council members.
In addition, six Members' Council members will be nominated for reappointment. The Members' Council election will run from 2 to 12 December. In this period, all members can vote.
How does the inflow and outflow of the Members' Council work?
On 1 January 2019, the new Members' Council started off with 42 members. The members were appointed for a period of four years. They can then be reappointed for a further four years. To prevent the entire Members' Council suddenly consisting of new members, a Resignation Schedule was established. In this way, the inflow and outflow is evenly distributed over the coming years. In accordance with this schedule, six members will now be nominated for reappointment. They can be re-elected for a further four years. The point of departure is that the Members' Council will consist of 35 to 45 members ensuring a good reflection of the total membership. To ensure a good start of the Members' Council, none of the members need to resign at the end of this first year (2019). Members' Council members could, of course, choose to resign prematurely.
What does this mean for the Members' Council in 2020?
Following a careful selection process, the Nomination Committee has selected three new candidates. They will be nominated for appointment as Members' Council members as from 1 January 2020. The candidates are:
- Gerrit-Jan Vermöhlen - flowers - Germany
- Marco Keysers - plants - Germany
- Steef Meewisse - flowers - The Netherlands, Oostland region
According to the Resignation Schedule, six Members' Council members are eligible for re-election for a further four years. These are: Arend Vreugdenhil, Arnoud van der Knaap, Carlo Elia, Evert van Helvoort, Peter Smak and Peter Varekamp.
Two Members' Council members are resigning voluntarily as from 1 January 2020. They are: Jay Williams and Sjaak Buijs.
