Members mostly indicated: early supply information can strengthen clock21 December 2018
Between 13 and 24 November 2018, the member sessions from the Pilot Members’ Council took place in the Netherlands and abroad. There were four central themes: Members' Council candidates, strengthening the auction clock, sustainability and an update from the Management Board/MT.
The focus was on the subject of strengthening the auction clock with loyalty as a theme. The members present were predominantly in favor of the timely provision of supply information. This would increase clock stability and ensure a better match between demand and supply. The members discussed the following subjects in groups:
- timely provision of supply information
- clock-related barriers
- rewarding loyalty through auction sequence
What is timely and what is loyal?
But what is timely? How do you get something like that to work and which information will we be sharing with growers and customers?nbsp;Issues of complexity and practical feasibility also came up in the discussion of rewarding loyalty through a better auction sequence. The majority of the members present were in favor of this, but the dilemmas about who is loyal also immediately arose during the implementation. Based in part on all the collected input, we are going to expand upon the strategy of strengthening the auction clock. All of the discussions were summarized in the integration document.
The theme of sustainability was on the agenda for the first time during the member sessions. The majority of the members present thought that sustainability is a theme to discuss together. For example, how do we protect the image of the marketplace and the floriculture industry? The members' opinions were divided about the statement that a lower limit in terms of crop protection would contribute to the protection of the image. In this light, transparency and increasing opportunities was discussed, as well as the barriers, the role of the grower and the role of Royal FloraHolland. And how has everything been arranged in the different countries? It resulted in good substantive discussions and the subject has not yet been finalized. Sustainability will certainly be a focus point next year as well.
The candidates for the Members' Council were also presented and the entire process preceding it was discussed during the member sessions. As you know, we have now appointed and established a Members' Council.
Directie / MT
Finaly, the Management Board/MT gave an update about the
strategic course with
specific attention for Floriday, ILC and the budget, including the rates.
