Members positive about outline of Members' Council27 March 2018
As part of the Members' Council pilot, we organised consultation sessions from 15 February 2018 to 8 March 2018. Two topics took precedence: members' influence and involvement and the strengthening of the clock. During the consultation sessions, most of those attending could broadly agree with the general outline of the Members' Council and its purpose to strengthen the members' influence and involvement. They also expressed a need for more information.
Members of the pilot Members' Council supervised the consultation sessions, and experts in the field of authority provided clarification. During the sessions, members expressed a wish for more information on the profile of a Members' Council and how the appointment process would be organised. They also considered it important that the Members' Council properly reflect the membership.
Strengthening the clock
During the sessions, the attendees also discussed strengthening the clock. Members feel that is an essential step to take. They are aware that it is difficult to discuss the clock, and that there are several challenges that augment each other. Most of the suggested solutions concerned loyalty, auction times, excesses and digitalisation.
Where do we go from here?
The Management Team (MT) and the Supervisory Board discussed the results of the consultation sessions extensively. As a result, the Supervisory Board is preparing a definitive proposal to establish a Members' Council. The MT will focus on the next steps to take to strengthen the clock.
In May, the following round of consultation sessions is being organised. Then the Supervisory Board would like to discuss its proposal for a Members' Council with you. The proposal will be submitted to a vote during the GMM on 31 May 2018. In the second round of consultation sessions, the topics of the annual accounts and an update of the company will be on the agenda. The MT will then present the next steps to be taken to strengthen the clock.
