Record number of visitors first day Trade Fair 201709 November 2017
The first day of the three-day Trade Fair in Aalsmeer welcomed a record number of 6000 visitors. Its focus is sustainability, with the theme ‘Welcome to the Green Age!’. More than 200 of the 700 exhibitors have MPS-GAP certification. Grouped together, they form the Green Walk.
Royal FloraHolland stimulates sustainability in the chain, and as one element of this strategy, it is presenting the 'Greenovation Award' at the Trade Fair. Exhibitors were invited to submit their product or concept for consideration. An expert jury evaluated and nominated the submissions, while a consumer jury determined the ranking. On Thursday, the Greenovation Award will be presented at the Trade Fair in the categories Best Concept and Best Article.
First growers on Floriday
At the Trade Fair there is great interest in the kick-off of Floriday, the digital platform for the horticultural sector, led by Gerhard van der Bijl, Chief Digital Officer of Royal FloraHolland. Floriday offers huge benefits for both growers and buyers. The first users signed up on the spot.
The international character of the Trade Fair is evident in the range of exhibitors from all parts of the world. Representatives from outside Europe are coming from e.g. Israel, Japan, Taiwan and the USA. The visitors are even more international. A lot of attention is being paid to the many novelties, especially the winners of the Dutch Tulip Award.
