Image auctioning of plants starts on October 4 in Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk06 July 2017
We are evolving into a world where digital is standard and Remote Buying normal. That applies also to the plant clocks in Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk. This year we are taking the next important step towards national virtual clocks: we are introducing image auctioning of plants from 4 October 2017.
We are consciously choosing to move directly from physical auctioning to image auctioning without intermediate phases because image auctioning is a precondition for the implementation of national virtual clocks. The plans for image auctioning have been discussed extensively with buyers and suppliers in the various consultative bodies. Royal FloraHolland is carrying out its task to fulfil the preconditions for this step, and expects its chain partners to do the same.
What will change for buyers?
With image auctioning the trolleys no longer appear physically before the clock. You purchase on the basis of the supply information provided and the recent and reliable product photo. We are currently monitoring suppliers to optimise the reliability of the supply information and get the product photos to be representative. This is our buyers' greatest wish. We are also working on reliability in the future quality policy. A global digital marketplace is our concept. That matches the aim of Royal FloraHolland to become the world's largest digital platform for flowers and plants. Displaying the supply to buyers in advance remains a realistic possibility.
In Naaldwijk the plant buyers are welcome to use flower auction room C from 4 October 2017. The advantage is that buyers can purchase both plants and flowers in one auction room at the Naaldwijk location. They no longer need to move back and forth. The Basic Buyer's Workstation in auction room C will have been transformed to enable the purchasing of both flowers and plants from the location in question. In Aalsmeer, auction room G will remain the plant auction. But here as well, the purchasing workstations will be transformed to enable purchasing at all clocks at the Aalsmeer location.
Implementing image auctioning at each location
You will soon be informed in detail about the implementation of image auctioning at each location. Digital purchasing can represent a radical change if you have no experience with Remote Buying or using a Basic Buyer's Workstation. At the same time, there are many buyers who have faith in the digital possibilities or would like to have help from Royal FloraHolland to explore them.
Are you curious about what possibilities there are for you? What this could mean for your company and your purchaser(s), what needs to be arranged? For all these questions, look at the FAQ attached. If you do not see the answer you want, please contact our Customer Services.
