In a series of portraits, we portray members of Royal FloraHolland. Entrepreneurs, thinkers and innovators who enter into dialogue with each other and with the management of Royal FloraHolland. About the issues we face as a co-operative. Special people with their own ideas and a common dream: a prosperous future for our co-operative.
Jack Zwinkels of Nursery Vicini is in the FPC cut hydrangeas. He thinks it is important to let his voice be heard. And that is possible through the FPC.
"When growers talk about the auction, they often use the sideways form. This is not right of course, because we are the auction. If something goes wrong, you can also scratch your own head. We have a shared responsibility in this. I see the cooperative as an oil tanker in that respect. If you only make adjustments at the last minute, you are too late. You have to make adjustments from the start. Then you can still change course. That is precisely why I am in the FPC."
"There are three important themes at the moment: certification, digitalisation and national auctioning. I would like to be involved in thinking about that: I am a great advocate of progress. And now in the early stages, we can still achieve something. Working towards a bright future."
"As a member of the FPC, I can contribute to that. I am also always interested in how something works. If I read a bit more about something and look at the various sides, I understand the choices made a bit better. Within the FPC I'm mainly concerned with Floriday. Digitalization suits me well. In a year's time, I hope that all hydrangea growers can work well with Floriday. Within Floriday itself or via an external software supplier. Whatever works best for them. This change is necessary, but it has to be workable."
"Cut hydrangeas are sometimes overlooked as a product group. So it remains important to make ourselves heard. I do feel that I have a good grasp of the bigger picture. And that I can represent our group well. I want to make sure of that. So that I look after the interests of all hydrangea growers. And not only my own interests. To me, that is very logical. After all, it's not for nothing that we've been a cooperative for over a hundred years. Together we are strong. It's thanks to our combined efforts that we have achieved so many successes."
