New term David van Mechelen as CFO of Royal FloraHolland
July 15, 2026
The Supervisory Board of Royal FloraHolland (RFH) has reappointed David van Mechelen for a third term as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Van Mechelen has held the role of chief financial officer and co-director at the growers’ cooperative and leading international platform for flowers and plants since 2018. Most recently, he served as acting CEO at RFH.
The RFH executive board, comprising Pieter Bootsma (CEO) and David van Mechelen (CFO), forms the statutory board of Royal FloraHolland and bears ultimate responsibility for the management of the cooperative and the company. The CFO’s portfolio comprises Finance, Real Estate & Facility Management, Human Resource Management, Sustainability, Legal & Compliance, Procurement and Internal Audit.
Evert van Helvoort, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, is delighted that Van Mechelen will remain on the RFH executive board beyond 30 September, the end date of his current term: “This is very good news for Royal FloraHolland in terms of continuity and stability, and also with a view to our growth plans. David has already successfully served as CFO for two terms. Our appreciation for him as a leader and as a person has grown even further over the past year, thanks to the way in which he carried out the role of acting CEO with such commitment and decisiveness. With the recent return of Pieter Bootsma to his role as CEO, effective 1 July, David can work alongside him and the RFH management board to further drive the implementation of Strategy 2030.”
This reappointment has been approved by the employees' council (OR).
