Update on Eelde – final auction day 25 June and closure on 30 June
May 6, 2026
At the end of last year, we reported on the planned closure of our Eelde hub. Since November 2025, we have been in discussion with our staff, growers and buyers regarding the implications for the future. These include support in finding new employment for our staff, and new buying and selling opportunities for our buyers and growers. We would like to inform you about a number of matters, such as the final auction day, the last collection of transport packaging, the farewell gathering and the upcoming sale of the property.
Final auction day and farewell gathering
The final auction day is on Thursday 25 June, when the last trolley will go under the hammer in Eelde. This will be a special moment that we will reflect on with those involved. We will also do so during a farewell gathering where we will reflect on the closure together with growers, buyers and other stakeholders, but above all with our employees. Those involved will receive an invitation for this in the course of May.
Closure and transport packaging
The closure also affects transport packaging. From Friday 26 June at 12.00 noon, it will no longer be possible to return or collect packaging, such as crates, trolleys and CCs at the Eelde hub. Growers and buyers have been personally informed of this. After 30 June 2026, no waste will be collected and it will no longer be permitted to use trolleys without lock plates. Trolleys must be fitted with a lock plate both on the grounds and inside the buildings; this will be checked.
Sale of Eelde property and clarity for current tenants
Finally, we would like to announce that an Investment Teaser is now available as a preliminary announcement of the sale of the auction site/complex in Eelde. The public sale process will commence shortly.
For the time being, nothing will change for current tenants: as previously indicated, tenants may continue to use the space they have rented until 31 December 2027. Further information on the procedure will follow via our property partners Cushman & Wakefield and DP Vastgoed.
