Every day, Royal FloraHolland collaborates with growers and buyers to develop new standardized packaging. With the introduction of the new flower bucket Fc555, we reduce supply chain costs and make floriculture more sustainable. This is because when using this bucket, a single-use cardboard collar or multi-use support shelving Fc596 is no longer needed. This saves not only packaging costs, but also handling at the nursery, with the buyer and further down the supply chain. And the use of less cardboard and fewer transport movements contribute to further sustainability. We developed the Fc555 together with the FPC Gerbera and other product groups. Both FPC president Dick Kooij (Gerbera United) and Gerbera grower Holstein Flowers applaud the arrival of the Fc555: "This bucket provides the basis for further sustainability and optimization of automation."

With the ground size of the small bucket Fc566 and the height of the large bucket Fc577/Fc588, the new flower bucket Fc555 combines several advantages in one. From a market test among growers and buyers, we see, that the Fc555 can provide optimization not only with Gerbera, but also with other product groups. The new bucket is particularly suitable for products with a length of 50 to 65 cm, but in combination with the Fc596 support shelving also for flowers of 70 cm and longer.

Features Fc555
The new flower bucket Fc555 has many advantages, including:
  • Sustainability: reduction of approximately 250,000 kg of cardboard per year.
  • Lower supply chain costs: packaging costs of collars and/or support shelving are eliminated.
  • Higher efficiency: less handling at the grower’s nursery, at the buyers' box and further down the supply chain.

With the introduction of the Fc555, we are significantly reducing supply chain costs and taking another step in making floriculture packaging more sustainable. You can read more about this in the article "Continuous innovation and collaborating makes floriculture logistics more sustainable" by Royal FloraHolland COO Leendert-Jan Plaisier.

Phased introduction starts spring 2026
We are currently continuing with various preparations and the actual production of the new bucket will start in the fall of 2025. We are opting for a phased introduction per product group in order to guarantee sufficient availability of the Fc555, even in the busier times. As it looks now, the Gerbera product group will be the first to start using this new bucket in spring 2026.
