Only use auction trolleys with three standard fixed shelves
02 November 2020
An auction trolley has three fixed shelves as standard. Unfortunately, we’re still seeing auction trolleys with an incorrect number of shelves, which causes loading problems in the chain. Starting from 1 January 2021, Royal FloraHolland will actively check the number of shelves on an auction trolley.
Always check the auction trolley that you take with you. This will avoid both costs in the chain and fines.
Stricter enforcement on the right number of fixed shelves
Auction trolleys with less or more than the three standard fixed shelves are a source of great frustration to everybody concerned. They disrupt the logistics chain and the extra repair costs involved are not insignificant. This is why, as of 1 January 2021, we are changing our sanction policy and the way we check for the correct standard number of fixed shelves. This applies to all Royal FloraHolland locations as well as Plantion and Veiling Rhein-Maas.
What will change?
The guidelines for the correct use of auction trolleys and shelves will not change. We are changing the sanction policy and enforcement procedure only.
- From 1 January 2021, supplying an auction trolley with more or less than three standard fixed shelves will be prohibited.
- The Sanction Policy for Auction Trolleys and Shelves will apply to suppliers of any auction trolleys with an incorrect number of shelves.
- Packaging may only be returned on auction trolleys with the correct number of shelves, too.
Transition period until 31 December 2020
From 1 December we will already start our controls. We will not immediately impose fines or sanctions, but violators of our policy will be informed by letter if we establish that an auction trolley used by them has less or more than the standard number of three shelves. We are offering everybody concerned the opportunity to hand in grey shelves at our packaging locations without any sanctions until 30 November.
Always inspect the auction trolleys upon collection
When you or your service provider collects auction trolleys from
one of our locations, it is very important always to check that
they are fitted with the three standard, fixed shelves before you
take them with you. This will avoid both costs in the chain and
fines. Tip: Tell your service provider that you will only accept
auction trolleys with three standard shelves. Should you come
across an auction trolley with a different number of shelves at one
of our locations, then please attach a yellow defect label
through its lock-plate holder. This will bring the trolley to the
attention of staff and it will be taken to the workshop to be
repaired.
