Member Councillors wanted: "Complain and stand by, or you pick up the gauntlet"14 September 2020
Last chance: you can still apply for membership of the Members’ Council. Until 15 September 2020 members of Royal FloraHolland can apply for a place in the Members’ Council. We asked member of the Members’ Council Sander van der Vaart of FN Kempen what motivates him to work for the cooperative and what you can expect as a member of the Members’ Council.
Name: Sander van der
In the Members' Council since: 2019
Company: FN Kempen
Why are you committed to the cooperative?
Royal FloraHolland is closely intertwined with our business operations. It is an efficient way of handling our sales. All I saw was that Royal FloraHolland has been developing more slowly than the market over the last decade. We are losing market share. Then you can complain about this and stand by and watch. Or you can pick up the gauntlet and try to help strengthen Royal FloraHolland. For me, that was the reason for committing myself to the cooperative.
What appeals most to you in the Members' Council?
It's a representative mix of entrepreneurs who want to work for the cooperative. Everyone has a different type of business and looks at the issues you're working on as the Members' Council, the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board from their own perspective. It is also interesting to hear others' views. In addition, every entrepreneur has a large overlap in issues within his own company. And if it's not Royal FloraHolland we' re talking about, it's also a nice club to have a sounding board for your own issues.
What would you like to raise or change in the cooperative?
I think Royal FloraHolland has made a number of good (strategic) decisions in recent years and is busy implementing these. As far as I'm concerned, the change could be made more rapidly.
Why, in your opinion, should members apply for the Members' Council?
If you want to think, talk and decide on the future of Royal FloraHolland and want to do so in a group with enthusiastic fellow entrepreneurs, then you should become a member of the Members' Council. In addition to being able to provide input, you also learn a lot from Royal FloraHolland and each other.
