Over 160 Eelde customers have now switched to the Remote Buying (KOA) group system29 July 2020
At our location in Eelde, we are preparing for the future. Image auctioning for all buyers will therefore be introduced at the end of August. In preparation, over 160 buyers in Eelde have already switched to the group system for Remote Buying (KOA) in Eelde.
As a result, more than 80% of the current customer base in Eelde is ready to use the new auction method at the location at the end of this summer. Thomas Bugel, Eelde location manager: "With the imminent introduction of image auctioning at our location in Eelde, the group system for Remote Buying (KOA) is the new standard. A new system always takes some getting used to. I want to compliment our customers on the way they have handled things. In the end, we all reap the benefits. None of this would have been possible without our commercial teams who worked hard in recent weeks to make it happen".
Customers who have been using the outdated, local version of Remote Buying will also have to switch to the new standard (U-KOA) that connects to the group system this summer. In order to familiarise buyers in Eelde with the new system, they were recently given the opportunity to attend some workshops. The workshops were well attended and followed by no less than 145 buyers.
Life-size photos of trolleys in the auction room
Much energy has been put into maintaining the true physical auctioning experience in recent months: "Thanks to our joint efforts with our customers, we've been able to develop the 'photo street' that will soon be put into use. This way we can maintain the physical auctioning experience. I expect that this will keep the auction rooms full in the future, too" says Bugel.
The introduction of image auctioning means that products will no longer be physically displayed in the auction room. Products are however still physically in the building and can be viewed by buyers prior to auction. In the 'photo street' specially developed for Eelde, photos are taken of the trolleys to be auctioned, which makes it possible to project life-size updated images of the trolleys on the wall of the auction room. In addition, the photo of the grower will be displayed in the KOA system as per usual. It therefore remains important that the photo is representative of the lot.
The very latest auction and sales techniques
It is Royal FloraHolland's intention to turn Eelde into a future-proof auction and logistics centre for the north of the Netherlands and the north-west of Germany. The plan is to do so by employing the latest auction and sales techniques and a new way of logistics handling. Various new services will be launched for customers in Eelde in late summer.
