Van Helvoort Company: '100% Digital will bring peace to our nursery'17 June 2020
Van Helvoort Company is busy preparing for 100% Digital by means of an API link. This link allows them to enter the offer from their own software package in Floriday. Van Helvoort Company has the ambition to digitise its sales as much as possible. Lianne van Londen of Van Helvoort Company explains more about the company’s experience with the API link, the test phase and the company’s experience with 100% Digital.
What is your role/function?
I am Lianne van Londen and together with Evert, Bas and Jos we form the Sales team of Van Helvoort Company. My sales colleagues Bas and Jos are committed every day to selling our santinis, so that our products have a good place in the market. In my role, I assist Bas and Jos with this and I keep the link to be realised with the software package and the ultimate goal of 100% Digital in sight! It's our ambition to digitise our sales as much as possible. This is a fun and ambitious challenge in a market that is constantly on the move.
What changes will you face as a result of 100% Digital?
We see two major changes taking place. Change 1 is the contact with the customer. By increasingly acting digitally, we also see that customers are following this shift. We see this change in particular in day trading. These orders are largely placed digitally. This is in line with change 2, which is the fact that the link with Floriday is bringing more peace to the company. Because small orders are digitally booked out, the nursery is calmer in the morning. We make use of the Fulfilment service of Royal FloraHolland for this and our webshop is linked to Floriday. The offer on the webshop is all delivered directly from Fulfillment. This gives us more peace within the nursery and allows us to serve our customers even faster. By offering this service to customers, we see an increase in our purchasing power on this platform.
What are you currently doing in your software package?
Our Florinet software (Webshop, among others) is linked to Floriday/FloraMondo. We enter our offer into our software program and this is directly linked to Floriday. Testing was a process of trial and error, but that's always the case with a test period. One thing in particular that we felt was positive is that the testing always took place behind the scenes and has had no influence on our daily work. We enjoyed the cooperation between Floriday and Florinet. There was plenty of communication and going back and forth between both parties. For VHC it was therefore really just a matter of "plugging in" so that our offer could be put on the marketplace.
What will 100% Digital offer you?
100% Digital will bring peace to our nursery, so that we can do even more for our customers. We will no longer merely have to focus on the issues of the day, but will be able to look ahead together with our customers. Where can we find opportunities and how can we strengthen our customers with our range and service.
In addition, we are convinced that purchasing power will increase by going 100% Digital, because our range is transparent to everyone.
What else would you like to be able to do in Floriday in the future?
The next step that we would like to take is, among other things, processing requests and offers. This is something we are currently doing outside of Floriday. To make things even more transparent, we would also like to be able to do this 100% Digital! The API link should make this easier, which means that adding new functionality ensures even more efficiency and speed in the company.
Do you have any advice for other growers about 100% Digital?
Do it! It will give you peace of mind within the nursery and provide you with full insight into your sales. Start the process in time so that you can master it step by step. Feel free to contact your software supplier, they can tell you what is right for your company.
