Emergency measure: Supply regulation tightened17 March 2020
Royal FloraHolland announced an emergency measure yesterday as a result of the high throughput percentages and the poor price formation on the clocks in recent days. This measure meant that for today, Tuesday 17 March, a maximum of 30% of the volume supplied last Tuesday could be supplied. This percentage has been set at 50% for houseplants and 75% for garden plants. In addition, A2 and B quality flowers and plants may no longer be supplied and products will no longer be auctioned off.
The suppliers of houseplants and garden plants have basically adhered to the regulations. On the flower clocks, the supply percentages were around 50%, despite the fact that the auctioneers had intensive contact with the suppliers about their supply. We are going to enforce this more vigorously.
The price formation today has been better than yesterday and the throughput percentages are generally considerably lower. This percentage still needs to be lowered further. For houseplants the regulation needs to be adjusted to 30% of the supply of the comparable day last week. For cut flowers, the supply percentage of 30% will be maintained more tightly. Royal FloraHolland therefore calls on all suppliers to adhere to the rules of the regulation.
- Supply of cut flowers: a maximum of 30% of the supplied volume
on the auction day of last week.
- Houseplant supply: a maximum of 30% of the volume supplied on the previous week's auction day.
- Supply of garden plants: maximum 75% of the supplied volume of the auction day of the previous week.
These supply regulatory emergency measures are reviewed from day to day on the basis of the information we have at our disposal.
The Floriday dashboard shows how much you can supply at location level in your specific situation. If in doubt, contact your auctioneer.
Royal FloraHolland regrets for growers that this emergency measure currently has to be implemented. In the coming days, an assessment will be made on a daily basis as to which measures are necessary with regard to the supply and this will be announced through regular communication channels.
