From pot size 10 per plant

  • The plant passport is required by law for all plants as of 14 December 2019.
  • To unburden the chain and strengthen the marketplace, a plant passport at plant level will become mandatory from pot size 10 as of 14 December 2019.
  • Royal FloraHolland will be enforcing the rules as follows
    • As of 14 December 2019 - plant passport per tray or plant to be sold individually from pot size 19 (based on current VBN rules);
    • As of 1 July 2020 - plant passport per plant from pot size 10.

If the plant passport is not provided or is not in order, the product will not be auctioned.

Our advice to suppliers is to start using the plant passport at plant level as soon as possible. You will give your customers peace of mind and your products become more attractive.

Arrangements with different plant genera

There are two options:

  1. You can provide one passport per arrangement that includes all the respective genera and countries of origin.
  2. You can provide one passport for each part of the arrangement (so that means more than one passport per arrangement). If you wish to use only the family name (for instance Orchideacea/Cactaceae) on the passport rather than the different genera, then this needs to be authorised by the registering authority first.

Please note: as of 1 July 2020, for arrangements, the plant passport is mandatory per plant starting from pot size 10.

Mix tray with different plant genera

There are two options:

  1. You can provide one passport per mix tray that includes all the respective genera and countries of origin.
  2. You can provide one plant passport for each plant/pot (so that means more than one passport per mix tray).

Please note: as of 1 July 2020, for arrangements, the plant passport is mandatory per plant starting from pot size 10.

Floriday makes it easy

In Floriday, growers can log the plant-passport data and customers can retrieve it.

If you are a supplier/grower who uses Floriday, then you have quick access to all the data required for the plant passport. In Floriday, you register the phytosanitary registration number only once. For each article in the Floriday catalogue, you simply enter the botanical name (genus) and the country of production. The traceability code is generated automatically upon delivery and can easily be retrieved after delivery.

Using an API link, Floriday makes it possible to make the plant passport data available to customers, too.
