The objective of the Royal FloraHolland Youth Council is to involve young members in the cooperative and have them commit to the cooperative. It is a breeding ground for them to gain experience with other bodies within the cooperative and to stimulate, inspire or advise the company through the eyes of young growers with an entrepreneurial spirit, who are, after all, the future of the cooperative. The Youth Council functions as a sparring partner and creates a connection between the young growers, the company and the cooperative.
The current Youth Council consists of 7 members; Bianca van Eijk (Eyco), Job van Egmond (van Egmond Matricaria) Steffi de Kerpel/Verbeeck (Johan Verbeeck), Andre van der Valk (Patioplant), Jelle Kuijvenhoven (JK plant), Jens Kool (Bouwman Anthuriums) and Ruud van der Houwen (van der Houwen Orchideeën).
Throughout the year, we organize programmes on various topics with internal and external expertise, events, master classes and/or coaches to help us move forward and prepare for our ambitious future.
These programmes are about subjects such as:
- How do we deal with family connections, succession and other expectations when we expand?
- How do we find, lead and retain managerial staff when we expand?
- How will we learn to lead at a more complex level when we grow?
- How will we deal with stricter regulations, increased sustainability and technology in combination with our ambition?
